Legalization of marijuana and hemp has fueled competitive innovation and the adoption of technologies to advance production of various cannabis concentrates, derivatives, and infused-products.

We will briefly explore food safety, public health, and occupational health and safety considerations during the cultivation, handling, processing, refinement, manufacturing, and labeling of products containing cannabis, cannabis concentrates, and cannabis-derived compounds.

Speaker Bio

Thuy Vu, Director of Operations, Regulatory Affairs & Business Development for Hammer Enterprises LLC. 

Thuy founded Thuy Vu Consulting LLC in 2016 and offers consulting services for food, dietary supplement, and cannabis operations specializing in compliance, food safety and foodborne illnesses/outbreak investigations, public health, process control, full-chain traceability, QAQC, product testing, product specification, product labeling, cGMP, HACCP, ISO Accreditation, Organic Certification, Kosher Certification, fire & building codes, occupational health & safety, regulatory engagement, and environmental stewardship.

 

She also serves as the Director of Operations, Regulatory Affairs & Business Development and PCQI for Hammer Enterprises LLC, the largest vertically-integrated, ISO 9001:2015 Accredited, USDA Organic and Kosher Certified hemp company in Colorado.

 

Thuy worked as the lead foodborne illness, outbreak, and marijuana investigator for the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment from 2010-2015.  Following Colorado’s legalization of medical marijuana in 2010, Thuy spearheaded public health inspections, investigations, and enforcement of the burgeoning marijuana industry, helping set the precedent for the application of food safety regulations and good manufacturing practices (cGMP) in the extraction and manufacturing processes of cannabis concentrates and cannabis-infused products nationwide becoming the first cannabis specialist in the nation.
